Located in the lush green event corridor of Eskelunden just minutes from central Aarhus, NorthSide has established itself as one of the most innovative and forward-thinking music festivals in the global circuit. While maintaining an enviable booking reputation featuring premier indie rock, pop, and electronic headliners, NorthSide’s true distinction lies in its relentless environmental rigor.

The Radical Shift to 100% Plant-Based Dining

In 2022, NorthSide shocked the global events industry by announcing that all food served on-site to 35,000 daily attendees, artists, and crew would be 100% organic and 100% plant-based. By collaborating with top Nordic gastronomy pioneers, Michelin-awarded chefs, and regional organic farmers, NorthSide proved that festival culinary standards could be elevated while drastically slashing the carbon footprint of food service by more than 60%.

Grid Power Elimination of Diesel Generators

While traditional festivals rely on massive diesel-guzzling generators to power audio towers and high-voltage lighting grids, NorthSide partnered with the municipality of Aarhus and local green energy suppliers to establish a permanent high-capacity renewable power grid in Eskelunden. 100% of the festival’s electricity is derived from Danish wind and solar production.

Electra: The Electronic Undergrowth

Beyond the main stages (Astra and Echo), NorthSide features Electra, an electronic sanctuary set within a woodland amphitheater. Top international DJs perform beneath canopies of dynamic LED timber sculptures, blending natural forest scenery with cutting-edge techno and house music.
